Josh has built a following of over 22,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel where he's got videos on everything from Divi tutorials to sales and marketing strategies for web designers. Today, Josh takes us through his journey from just getting started with Photoshop all the way up to building and eventually selling his own profitable web design business.
This is for you if you are a web designer but you find yourself working on random, unrelated projects – especially if you're finding it hard to get up into the prices you want to be charging.
Join Josh and me and discover answers to questions like:
- How can I get my prices up?
- How should I position my business and define who I am?
- Should I pick a niche?
- How many clients should I try to get?
- How can I set goals and develop a vision for my business?
- What's my next step because what got me here won't get me there?
One of Josh's big points (that I totally agree with) is that it is far more satisfying and profitable if you focus on landing fewer high-paying clients rather than trying to build a gigantic portfolio of clients. I often refer to this as high impact rather than high volume.
One of my biggest takeaways from this conversation with Josh is that building a business in a bubble is nuts.
Josh did some research and discovered that over the next 10 years most of the jobs that are projected to be the most successful are in the world of web design and digital marketing. So, right now is one of the most important times with the best opportunities for people in our space.
Josh and I also strongly agree that valuing your time is so important. Running in circles will just burn you out while other people surpass you and you get left behind. I think Josh said it perfectly when he said, “The worst thing you can do is to do everything yourself and not get any feedback on what you're doing.”
