Yesterday, I Sold A $7,700 WordPress Project With A Google Doc
Yesterday, I sold a $7,700 WordPress project with a Google Doc. Today I'm going to tell you how I did it.
As you may know, I've been inviting people to talk to me for free through our Facebook group, Building High-Value WordPress Sites, and through these videos. If you're new to the group, what you may not know is that I do three things. Most people know me through Cart66, the WordPress ecommerce platform that we launched 10 years ago. I've been able to meet and work with hundreds of WordPress professionals through Cart66 and speaking at WordCamps and WooConf about ecommerce and running WordPress based businesses. But, I've also been a web developer/consultant for over 16 years working with companies as large as Microsoft and the United States government down to businesses as small as solopreneurs and startup companies.
This year I started DoubleStack to teach and mentor WordPress developers on how to break free from low-paying, stressful, drawn-out projects so they can start attracting long-term, ideal clients that will stabilize and scale their businesses with recurring revenue from high-value monthly retainers.
What Is DoubleStack All About?
Often times when people get on the phone with me, they are not aware of all of this, so today I wanted to talk a little bit about the DoubleStack program, why I put it together, who it's for, and how it can transform your business.
By far, the #1 problem people talk to me about is not being able to make enough money as a WordPress freelancer. Conversations quickly branch into things like:
- How to get more clients
- How to charge more for WordPress projects
- How to get more (or better) leads
Occasionally some people will have monthly packages they offer for WordPress maintenance plans or pre-paid hours, but even with that, people are feeling really stuck when it comes to figuring out things like:
- What kinds of services they could be offering
- How to get clients on monthly retainers (for more than just WordPress maintenance)
- How to get prospects to actually reply to the proposals they send
- How to keep projects from stalling out and dragging on forever
Around Thanksgiving of last year, I decided to put together DoubleStack which is an 8-week course that answers all of these questions – and not just in an “online course” sort of way. Yes, there is an online course component where there are well over 30 lessons. But the real difference is the live coaching and mentoring with me. You have access to me, personally, through email. And, once per week, we get on a video chat together where we can share screens and talk about whatever is going right now with your business.
So if you are:
- Working on technical stuff like memberships, subscriptions, ecommerce, email sales funnels, etc.
- If you have a client meeting coming up and you're wondering what to offer and what to charge
- If you are working on a proposal and want to go over it together
- If you are updating your website and want to talk about how to attract your ideal clients
Bring that stuff to our weekly calls and let's talk it through together. Or, submit your proposal to me before you send it to your client and let's make sure you're putting in the stuff that matters and leaving out the stuff that is distracting an unnecessary.
Bottom line: Let's work together to fundamentally transform your business and get it performing at the levels you really want.
Things We Cover
The program is called DoubleStack because we cover two “stacks” of information.
- The tech stack
- The business development stack
The Tech Stack
First I make sure you have a streamlined system for building, deploying, and maintaining WordPress sites securely and effeciently. Then we make sure you've got the skills that will generate actual business outcomes for your clients. For example, ecommerce, memberships, subscriptions, sales funnels, integrating ecommerce behavior with email marketing, etc.
The Business Development Stack
Once you've got the tech stack down, then we work together to develop business packages that you can offer to generate high-value monthly retainers. And we restructure your business in a way that can scale to 6-figures and beyond. If you're selling 1-off websites for $1,000 each that is not going to scale to 6-figures. So let's work on that together and get you positioned on a business structure that can give you the results you're looking for.
Let's Talk
If this is something you'd like to learn more about and start doing for yourself, let's talk.
